'Undo' is a command in most computer programs that allows the user to erase the last change made to the document and revert it to an older state. It is a very useful command for it allows us to rectify the mistakes we make. I have wondered many a time how would it have been if there was a undo button or command for our lives. At first thought, I would have wanted to undo many many things, but on pausing and pondering if I really wanted to undo, I honestly feel I would rather not undo anything. I owe what I am to all those moments and events in a way, for they have shaped my thinking, moulded my perspectives on life, toughened me, softened me, sharpened me, changed me. Basically they have influenced me in many ways to make me a better person and helped me evolve into the unique person that I am.
I cannot imagine the confusion that it would cause with each of us trying to undo a different aspect of an event that has already unfolded. No wonder, life does not have a 'Undo' command.

Reshma this is a very thought provoking post. If we start undoing things which we have already done, there will be utter confusion in the world.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ushaji. I totally agree with you.
DeleteI totally agree with you Reshma. I don't think even in computer you can undo many things for only some sites have this option. Like the blogger you don't have this option, maybe I am wrong.
ReplyDeleteTrue Rama, even with computer programs, there is a limit on the extent of 'undo' allowed. Blogger 'undo' is enabled only for the drafts. Once the post is published, there is no revert option.
DeleteI liked your perspective. If everybody pressed the Undo button on something or the other, gosh... what a chaos it would be!! :D
ReplyDeleteThanks Shilpa, the chaos would be out of this world :P
DeleteHaving that undo command really comes in handy but since every small event in life is connected and brings us to where we are, one undo in reality would simply change the course of our life and everything! ♥
ReplyDeleteVery true Kathy, I echo your thoughts :)
DeleteGood thing we don't get that option on life. To this day, there are a couple of things I'd happily undo...and take the associated risks. Which is dumb, I know. Because I like who I've become...nonetheless I'd be willing to risk that person for the opportunity to see who else I could have been. I'm guessing someone knew I couldn't be trusted with such a button. ;-)
ReplyDeleteLoved the way you summed it up Anna, thank you for dropping by :)
DeleteWhat is done can be undone here, but not common in life as you said.So let ponder over it before doing things.Nice and apt for 'U'.
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed my take Sarala :)
DeleteWhat we want to undo maid us realize that we shouldn't have done them ... so in a way those experiences taught us a lot in life ... why should we remove the teachers? :-)
ReplyDeleteYou are right Guruji :)
