Fearful encounter - a 77 fiction

His badge announced to the world that he was a police officer.  Maintaining law and order was his liability. Hardened criminals were petrified by mere mention of him, such was his repute. Yet while climbing the stairs as the night darkened outside, his heart was throbbing in fear.

How would he face her tonight?
How could he have forgotten it was her birthday today?
He dreaded facing the lady in question.
His little angel, his daughter.

This post is shared with 3WW and the words for this week are Darken, Badge and Liability.

  1. Aww! That's so sweet! Fathers and daughters share a very different relationship. I read this sometimes back... The father of a daughter is nothing but a high-class hostage. A father turns a stony face to his sons, berates them, shakes his antlers, paws the ground, snorts, runs them off into the underbrush, but when his daughter puts her arm over his shoulder and says, 'Daddy, I need to ask you something,' he is a pat of butter in a hot frying pan. :)
