Alarm starts beeping,
flight of fantasy cut short,
return to routine.

Sandals back in vogue,
winter boots beat a retreat,
spring in step returns.

This post is shared with Haikuhorizons and this week's prompt is RETURN
Sleep and dreams cut short by alarm.the second one is cleverly done , Reshma.
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked my take Kalpana :)
Deletei love the first one ! its a daily thing,,,the call of unavoidable normal routines and our longingness for flights of fantasies where we write at our heart's content !
ReplyDeleteThanks Milan, Even though we know our flight will be cut short, we can't stop dreaming, that's the beauty of life :)
DeleteHow I hate to be woken by the alarm! Cleverly done, Reshma
ReplyDeleteDon't we all Celestine?
DeleteLovely ones!! I always, wake up after 3-5 snooze alarms! And I cant wait to keep my woolens inside and take out my summer clothing!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Shilpa. I set my alarm 15 minutes earlier than my scheduled wake up so that the snooze doesn't make me late :P
DeleteI hate alarm clocks. They disturb my sleep. Unfortunately, without any alarm clock, I am wide awake at 5 am on Saturdays and Sundays.
ReplyDeleteA built-in alarm clock huh, now that can be a double-edged sword SG.
DeleteI would love to say I join you with sandals but my world has received another foot of that disgusting white nonsense today, sigh. I enjoyed your world Reshma :)
ReplyDeleteI hope snow-white returns to her fairytale and allows you to bask in sunshine soon Cheryl :)
DeleteI love both...definitely can identify with the alarm ruining everything.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kathy, the alarm definitely ensures we jump-start our day :P
DeleteThose alarms can be quite alarming! Nice set!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, they can. Thank you for the prompt :)
DeleteReshma, morning alarm is really "alarming". You get up with a jolt.. Very well written haiku.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the kind words Ushaji :)
DeleteThese made me smile! I can't wait for the return of sandals! Or bare feet!! http://wabisabipoet.wordpress.com/2014/03/10/haiku-horizons-return/
ReplyDeleteSpring is all about smiles, isn't it :) Thank you Wabisabi :)
DeleteI can so very well relate to the first one.. well penned. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Payal :)
DeleteBeautiful,Reshma. Are you a Mallu? If so would you read my Mal. verse 'maaluvin muttaththe maavu'.If non-keralite forget it.
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked it Sarala. No, I can only differentiate Tamil from Malayalam when I hear them. Would enjoy reading a translation of the post if you can put it up for non-keralites like me :)
DeleteI hate the sound of alarm :P
ReplyDeleteSo do I Amrit :P
DeleteThe love and hate relationship with alarm will continue for ever, just like the relationship between husband and wife, we hate also and love also both at the same time. Life with out a alarm clock is
ReplyDeleteimpossible.
Loved your analogy Rama :)
