Pride

Fledgling wings flapping,
heart in mouth - solo flight show
mother's eyes shine- proud

 Pride unites townsfolk,
pride weaves a dangerous web,
 pride fells mighty oaks.

This post is shared with  Haikuheights and this week's prompt is PRIDE

    1. Yes, it is a very powerful emotion that can be grossly misused

  3. The one about the birds especially speaks to me as birds who don't make it on their first flight sometimes die in the attempt. So pride is also relief--usually something worthy of being proud of creates some risk.

    1. Thank you WC, yes all parents are happiest when their children stand firm on their own feet. The pride in their hearts is something I wished to capture in the Haiku.

  8. Devilish me: I wonder if animals can really be proud of their offspring, or do we humans just attribute pride to them?

    1. Fair enough Teacher. We humans assume we are all-knowing and in that sense of false-pride we wax eloquent on nature...
